I've noticed only recently that my DW sometimes seems to get in the mood after our morning coffee.

>>Given that this is credited to caffeine's effect on the body's neurochemicals such as dopamine, I wonder what else might serve the same purpose?<<

I think there are neurochemical things at work for some LLs. I am pretty sure that my dopamine system was damaged by antidepressants, but I cannot prove it. I do find that I think more of sex in the daytime (when I consume caffeine, to which I am probably addicted, but that's another story) than at night when I have stopped partaking. Of course it could just be that I think more of sex when I am not around my DH....due to our obvious issues...

I think every one has times when they are "off" it is just that some people are able to keep it inside, and some feel the need to let it out where people can see it. DH doesn't handle frustration or irritation well, it just has pour out of him and onto anything or anyone in his path. I am pretty good at keeping my feelings and frustrations in, until eventually exhaustion or some other factor causes it come bursting forth. Some folks would find my style of coping to be a little nutty (because when I finally let something out it can be over something that seems rather minor. For instance, last week DH was drumming with his empty water bottles, which he knows drives me crazy. He swears he wasn't doing it to irritate me...but that's all I could think of, and I ripped them out of his hands in a fit of fury and whipped them across the room screaming at him all the while....little nutty, right?) However, I feel like DH's regular ranting and yelling to be totally unnecessary and uncalled for. Who is to say who's right?

I'm totally thinking of buying some Red Bull though! I was thinking of it the other night, while we were having pizza at this local bar (that has the BEST pizza EVER!) People were drinking some kind of Red Bull and shot concoction. Alcohol does seem to up my libido some, but it makes me so sleepy nowadays that I can't act on it, Red Bull and vodka might be just the ticket! I'll investigate after all the chaos of the coming week (grandkids and DH's oldest son coming for a visit on thursday, along with mother-in-law and sister-in-law on friday, all staying thru sunday...trying to get the addition close to finished before they come, and house presentable as well as motorhome (so everyone has a place to sleep) plus MRI and doctor appts on friday) Whew, that exhausts me like no one's business just typing it.

Pray for me everybody! God and I aren't on speaking terms, and it looks like I will need divine intervention to survive this week.

...why can't you "act" on it?...

Because I have to work and my wife has to care for our two kids (2.5 yes old and 7.5 months old). It's not every time or even predictable either so it's not like we can hire a sitter to come watch the kids for a bit so we can get it done.

..what about on the weekends???...can't you plan a nap around it?...you could get up a little earlier than usual and then put the children down a little earlier for their nap...or, maybe you could be a late for work a time or two and simply put the children in their beds ( if they are both in a crib type bed)...

The little one doesn't nap at a consistent time or very long for that matter. We did manage to pull off a nooner a few weeks ago but there was a lot of luck involved and we aren't very lucky.

Sounds like you guys are making tremendous progress. Especially in terms of being the same team and developing more intimacy. This will stand you well in time when the kids grow up and are less overwhelmingly needy and your wife has more time and energy for other activities.

The infant and toddler years are tough on a couple, especially their sex life. Keep up the good work and you can look forward to the "golden years" of 6 to 12 when the kids can mostly bath and dress and feed themselves but they still mostly listen to you. Should be lots more time and energy and motivation for sex then.

Congratulations on not having this period spiral downward and push you guys irretrievably apart.

When you see it coming, duck!
