Yeap, the 'economically independent, bone tired, philosophically disinclined ..." description made me smile. That was me to a T.

>>He must somehow seduce a woman who is economically independent of him, bone tired, philosophically disinclined to have sex unless she is jolly well in the mood, numbingly familiar with his every sexual maneuver, and still doing a slow burn over his failure to wipe down the countertops and fold the dish towel after cooking the kids' dinner." <<

I read this and it felt true, and horribly accurate. I am NOT disinclined to have sex unless I am jolly well in the mood, but....most of the time I am actively NOT in the mood "bone tired" and "doing a slow burn" are common for me. In the old days men had their duties, and women had theirs, and without the overlap, well, I don't feel like there were as many opportunities for us to fail one another in those awful, insidious ways that lead to that "slow burn." I don't want to bitch about every little thing, I refuse to be a nag, but god damn it! Is it that hard to take a few minutes when he is home ALL DAY, every day, to run the vaccuum cleaner? Or scrub out the toilets, or god forbid wipe out the shower? Apparently it is, so we live in ever increasing decay and filth, because I don't have TIME or ENERGY to do all of that after I work, get home, deal with whatever he feels like he HAS to have my help for (wtf? I don't ask him to help me file the papers, or cook dinner, why is it I have to help him with the yard work or car repairs? And why can't those things get done while I am AT WORK and he is at home ALL DAY?) then make dinner, take care of my personal hygeniene needs (some things HAVE to be done) and then supply him with sex to boot. My house is filthy. I never get to relax, even my weekends are totally sucked up with work and "projects" that I have to "help" him with. I am lucky if I get the laundry done and the dishes caught up on weekends. Don't other people relax on the weekend? Don't the recharge and reconnect? I know I don't.

Yikes, sorry, that turned into and ugly vent. I must be feeling tired.

LOL, it's more like a Scotty moment.....Capn, I don't think she can take it much longer, the dilithium crystals are all but depleted.

And yes, honestly folks, that IS why he isn't having sex tonight!

Makes complete sense to me. If I was the only person responsible for all the effort to battle nature's slide toward increase entropy, I'd be far less inclined to have sex every morning or every evening.

Well, I am not entirely alone in my disgust. He will comment and harp and nag about it if it gets bad enough. And once in a blue moon he will commence cleaning a toilet (but he sort of complains and kvetches through it and then acts like I should fall over with my legs in the air while giving him a cookie, because OMG, he cleaned the toilet!)

It's tough. I'd hire a housekeeper, but I just cannot afford it. We're behind money-wise right now, because our remodeling project ran way over budget, and he's still spending money like a mad person. He bought a bundle of composite decking (becuase it was actually much cheaper than regular wood, which I totally get) but then he turns around and orders two new cellphones, because our Blackberrys aren't good enough anymore, but he has to wait for them to ship, so he needs a new battery for his blackberry ($40) and now we have to buy new cases and chargers etc because we are getting Iphones, which are not compatible with the old blackberry accessories.
