looks like another "improvement"

It looks like they've made another "improvement"  If they don't watch out they are going to "improve" the board right out of existence!  Most recently commented on threads aren't at the top anymore, and if you try to sort them by that date, it inverts them and you get posts from 2003 first.  All attempts to reverse the order have failed, and seeing the board via my iphone is almost impossible (it's too large to work right on that screen.)

<sigh>

It does kind of feel like a swing and a miss. Perhaps as new notes are entered the threads will bubble up to the top.

Mirandarr8,

I have added your concerns to the notes sent to the techs.

Let us know if you have any other issues.

Yeah, Secondfiddle, the last "upgrade" they gave us drove probably half our posters out, maybe more. The board is so slow now if we lose many more, it'll die completely, I fear. I did find that button this morning, I didn't see it before, either it wasn't there, or I just couldn't see it due to the super big appearance when using my iphone.

Thanks Thia. Hopefully the learning curve will be sharp and the growing pains short.

Thia, one more note, it does not appear that the "mark all messages as read" is working either. it takes me clear out of the board, and the messages don't get marked.

I'm a web developer by profession so I know what it takes to roll out changes like this.  I must say that this "upgrade" is anything but.  I'd be afraid for my job if I was a developer there.  It is simply unacceptable how much worse this is than the previous board.  Not only did they remove features but there are bugs all over the place.  Bad, bad, bad!!!

Yup, same thing last time they "upgraded" The fact that they've made the board impassable with my iphone is what is truly perturbing me this time. I've all but stopped using the site from my computer because I am not sure how much monitoring they are doing of my computer use at my job. I'm using "hotspot shield" but am not sure it works 100%. So I had been using my iphone even though it was cumbersome, because it wasn't monitored. Guess I am back to trusting hotspot shield.

Mrandarr8, I have noted this and sent it on up, and also that you are still having problems accessing with your mobile. Thanks!

From my computer the board doesn't even load when I try to go directly here. I get a big blank white space in the middle, with ads above, below and underneath, but no threads. The threads popped up after I navigated from the drop down menu. As the other have said, this is an epic fail. I know some executive keeps deciding what would be "optimal" in terms of having more ads on each page (the goal of the last major upgrade) and keeping control over your content (the goal of this upgrade). But it is not an improvement when you make the experience so much less satisfying for users. I am predicting you would get much more click through with the original board format and much fewer ads on each page, because you would get so much more traffic. No way the 10 of us who hang out here can produce the ad revenue of the dozens who were here frequently 5 years ago.

When you see it coming, duck!
