I went to the doctor this morning and she thinks either I am pregnant or I have uterine cancer.

Wow, so sorry to hear. I very much hope the doctor is wrong (which is entirely possible). What kinds of signs or symptoms do you have?

No signs or symptoms. My dermatologist sent me to an endocrinologist (I have a hormone imbalance, and he just wanted to make sure all the bases were covered.) She was doing a physical and felt that my uterus was distended. She sent me for an array of blood work and I am scheduled for an ultrasound on next Tuesday.

...wow...I'll be thinking about you...have you taken a pregnancy test (please, I apologize for this question...)....or would the hormonal imbalance affect that???...

No need to apologize, Z. She sent me for a bunch (7 tubes worth!) of blood work that includes a blood pregnancy test. She said that given my issues (hormone imbalance, age, and high possibility of ectopic pregnancy from my IUD) that the blood test would be definitive whereas a urine test might not. She told me she would get the results and call me sometime today. So I wait. And then once I get that news, I wait for the ultrasound next week to tell the rest of the story.

DH is being pretty good about this. He's teasing me (calling me mama in an Elvis voice, don't ask me why...) But has sound loud and certain that he is okay with whatever I decide if this turns out to be pregnancy. That's a relief, to not have to worry about what I decide causing problems between us.

Of course I have no friends or family to talk to about this, and that's hard, because I AM scared and upset. But whatever it is, I'll get through it somehow.

>>Given your health issues, if it is an ectopic pregnancy, maybe its time to revisit the no condom rule?<<

Amom,

I don't think we will rethink the condom rule, but we will probably have to rethink birth control in general. I am guessing there will be some kind of surgery involved here if it is anything outside of a normal pregnancy. That might solve the whole "birth control" situation all on it's own. If not, we'll have to see. I've enjoyed the ease and hormone-free situation with the IUD, but if it failed, well, I won'tfeel good about going back to that method, I guess.

I'm really tying myself in knots thinking about it all. I just SO do not want to be doing this right now!

...aw man...I am such an inpatient person...I would be climbing the walls...sheesh...I hope you receive news one way or the other soon...I hope you're pregnant...what you decide is your business...but, I'm voting for pregnancy over cancer...and, I don't mean that in a flip way...though, my friend suffered an ectopic pregnancy and it was an ordeal (burst)...I'm thinking about you all the way around...

...by the way, while some would suggest I become an 'inpatient"...attitudinally, I'm impatient...

LOL! Thanks for your support and well wishes. I took a sedative last night to sleep and I think it is also helping me be patient. Besides DH's whole attitude of "whatever you want to do is okay...I'm behind you" thing. Maybe this is an example of how GOOD he is to me in so many ways. You guys here don't often get to read about the good stuff. Here it is. How many men would be like that? No pressure either way, just whatever I decide. Seems sort of out of character in a way, but that's really who he is deep down. When things are really bad, really rough, he's just behind me, urging me to do what is good for ME.
