Sorry to seem ungrateful, Thia, it's just that this redesign (or upgrade or whatever they are calling it) has been so horrible for so long that a lot of us feel really bitter about it. And the last time they did this, it was bad for us too, so there's that memory as well for some of us "old timers"
No worries you are entitled to how you feel and many of us too are frustrated because of some of the issues. Many of my members need to be able to get here with their phones, ipads or whatever they use besides a PC.
Change sometimes can be difficult and painful, but the powers that be want to make sure we no longer have to wait in a long line to get things fixed.
I am sure it would have been done sooner if Sandy hadn't thrown a wrench in the whole project.
Thia, this complaint is not aimed at you, it just is.
I guess the frustration among the few old timers still here is that this board was very busy and vibrant back when it was text based and not so oriented toward serving up multiple ads per page. We lost many posters and lots of traffic when they switched to the more graphics based format a few years ago.
Now, with this update, the board is basically dead. Those of us who have called this board home for the past several years are mourning the loss of a place we felt understood (whether we are HL or LL), and many old friends.
By the time the techs (who I am sure are working very hard under awful conditions) fix the problems, there won't be anything left to save, because the users will have moved elsewhere.
From what I heard, after the last change over, people came back. I know the fix for mobile phones is up on the list for the techs but as you all know they are on the east coast and having a time getting to work. Even the iVillage offices worked with the use of an generator.
I heard the buses are back running and bridges are open. But now there is an issue with rats...ewwwwwwwwwww
Thia,
It may be true that overall traffic numbers for the entire site came back up to what they once were after the last "upgrade" but traffic on THIS board never came back to what it had been. I'm not sure why that is, but it is true. I don't know where else I will ever be able to feel understood and accepted and helpful/useful the way I have been on this board. Add to that the idea of having to start over explaining my backstory and it's just not worth it. And since this board was my ONLY outlet for relationship frustration, I'm suffering.
Not sure what I want to say other than maybe it's time for us as a community to explore other options. Not that I have any suggestions of where but I am convinced this is not working.
