To What/Whom Are You Responding

On our old board (ah, what nostalgia) we used to be able to see the name of the poster to whom we were responding. We also used to see the number of the message to which we were responding. And we could even click on the link to that message and read that preceding message in its entirety to get the context of the response.

Alas, in the new and devolved world, we don't have those features any longer. Our responses are completely lacking in context.

Any suggestions for providing some context to our replies to one another?

the only thing I can think of to do is to quote what you are replying to.

"the only thing I can think of to do is to quote what you are replying to. It's a pain, but I don't see any other way. I miss being able to see the "thread" of discussion before replying."

I think I could even adjust to the new look if the conversations were in threaded form.

...MST...I think simply beginning your post with the person's name is probably the easiest way at this point...

What do you think of the quote feature (like the above)? It takes up a lot of space...maybe even more than the old name of the previous poster and the number and link to the previous post...but it is handy to be able to see it in the same post, and you can cut out the parts that aren't relevant to the reply.
