You might consider deleting this and reposting it in the "Debate Porn Pros & Cons" section.

*sigh* I know that these things are true, but I still hate to think about them. I wonder why men think this way. It kind of makes me sick to my stomach, though I'm really trying my hardest to accept it. I've considered trying this way of thinking on for myself, have tried making every man I see a piece of meat I imagine myself taking a bite out of, but I can't. It bothers me. And I hate that I'm built to function differently in this way from my lover. I know it's nature, just the way things are, and that it can't be changed, but it still hurts. Maybe I wouldn't feel as strongly if he wasn't the first and only person I've ever been with. Strangely enough, I kind of treasure my feelings about this. I don't want to be a part of a group that is so concerned with sex on a wide scale. I'm happy loving one man and only wanting him. Even while acknowledging that he might still have those urges....

That's pretty awsome. :)

The whole piece of meat thing was in response to the woman in the article who was quoting her husband, that he imagines having sex with every woman he sees. It does sound exhausting. When I tried it left a bad taste in my mouth. I'm glad to hear from you that this isn't so for all men (though as someone who is going into the field of psychology, I should know better than to generalize like this).
Anyway, I definitely like your perspective better lol. I too, like admiring men and women, but I don't have sexual feelings for them. Since I've been in a relationship, those are saved for my partner.

I think too, that every person is different, so rather than getting freaked out by someone else's thoughts on this, I should probably just talk to my boyfriend (I've been kind of scared to, because of sources like this article, but your take on it makes me feel a LOT more comfortable). So thank you for sharing. :)

You were just supposed to imagine. You weren't supposed to actually put every man you see in your mouth. :smileymad:

Amy Alkon, an advice columnist, had this to say about porn and relationships in today's newspaper:

"It's hard to have a rational conversation about porn because people's first reaction is so often knee-jerk hysteria."

"Not only is it 'normal' for men to look at porn, so many men look at it that what would qualify as deviant behavior would be not looking at it.

????

It's an expression to say I didn't like it. That it upset me to imagine and made me feel dirty.
