Cheating Dreams?

My boyfriend of three years has constant dreams about me cheating on him, or just genereally breaking is heart, even though we've both been faithful, and neither of us have had unfaithful past relationships. I tell him it may be because he doesn't fully trust me, or that he's worried I'll leave him, but he denys it. Why is he having these dreams??

I have never heard an issue with "DREAMS." Is he saying this way to put it in nicer terms? I have known people who have a major issue with jealousy and it is incredibly destructive, usually showing up with constant questioning and accusations of cheating that slowly escalate until it usually becomes abusive and unbearable.

I would say work on talking this through so you understand his perspectives and maybe it will clear up with time..... but watch out if it starts to escalate.

Best of luck, P.

Perhaps these dreams relate to a prior relationship of his. Unresolved baggage.

For example, I sometimes dream that I'm unhappily married and feeling terribly stifled. Like there's no way out. Then I wake and see my husband sleeping next to me - and it's like "phew! Glad that was only a dream". In this case, my dreams are actually based on how I felt during my first marriage and have no relevance in my current marriage. It's simply a nightmare.

Instead of telling him why he has these dreams have you asked him why he thinks he has them, or what it is (even if it's a very small, niggling little thing) that makes him concerned and/or suspicious? Do you have any recurring issues between you? How long has he been having the dreams? Are there any problems that came up just before the dreams started? I'm specifically thinking of issues that are caused by a difference in preferences or thinking, but I'd be interested to hear about any issues that cause problems that keep coming back. Also, can you describe what happens in a typical dream? Lots of quesions, I know, but the answers might help in forming some thoughts and opinions to this.

I'll be checking back for your answers ~
