Have you tried stepping out of the way to give him a chance to take the lead with your son?

I know that since I moved out, I have done things with my kids that have surprised

He could be depressed or depending on his age, going thru andropause.

Welcome to the board, Jessie35, I'm sorry you're dealing with this difficult issue ~

Like some of the others, I have questions too.

Ugh, my heart is breaking for your kids, especially that story about your son. Poor little guy. One idea is that your husband is very disappointed in himself has a man and father, but doesn't know how to deal with his inadequacies other than lash out. Anything else, except for facing those inadequacies.

I hope you and the kids can go to family therapy. Get some professional help for the kids, they are going to grow up and be so affected by an emotionally unavailable father.

He was really good with the kids when they were babies.

Hello again,

i guess what's really frustrating is that when my husband and i were separated he had no choice but to do things with the kids, and he was good at it.

You know, I can't tell you how many times I've heard women say, "if he was this attentive to the kids when we were married, we wouldn't be divorced!".
