1st apt. with my attorney coming up....
| Wed, 05-17-2006 - 1:33pm |
My first apt. with my attorney is coming up. I want to make the most of it because it is costing me $250. It is the "consultation". What should I be prepared with for this apt?
We had a sep agreement drawn up before but it was never signed because my ex didn't agree to the terms once he saw them in writing.

Hi, and welcome!
I would definitely bring a copy of the old separation agreement to refer to. Other than that, I would suggest bringing a notebook with a list of questions so you can make the most of your time. The main topics I would touch upon are custody, child support, property division and debt division. I'm sure others will be able to come up with good questions for you to ask.
Follow me to my partner in the siggy exchange....
Take the old separation agreement, even though it's unsigned.... and take current information on debts, assets, retirement, investments, income, insurance.... stuff like that.
It's also great to have a list of your property, if that's not already part of your previous agreement.
