Hi everyone,

Although I don't post all the time, I do check the board regularly. 2006 was a tough year for me going through my divorce and I am hoping to be finished with my long divorce process in March. The word "painful" would be an understatement, especially where children are concerned.

I want to thank everyone for your support, and for all the newbies out there I want to wish you the very best this year. Please know you're not alone. This board is a great place to come and vent. I have to believe that we are all given a second chance to go on and make our lives even better than we could have imagined.

MAY WE ALL HAVE A BETTER NEW YEAR...

Belinda

not a "waste", yet, rather, an unwavering "will" to survive this gravely challening experience of "divorce" ... can't WAIT to get to where you are (my process is "spilling" over into 2007, too) been separated since late 2004, filed in Aug. 2006, DSs transitioned to STBX last week, and i'm "endeavoring" to take one day at a 2007-time :)

hugs!

I like the way you look at it. I need to remove the word "waste" from my vocabulary. I should be legally done March 13th...we'll see...it was supposed to be done September 29, but the date got pushed back to March. Guess Colorado is a high divorce rate state to live in as the court system is clogged!

Good luck to you.

Belinda,

I am relatively new to the board. Your post mentioned children. How old are they? Mine are 4 and 6. THEY are what I am most concerned about. If your kids are close to mine in age, would you mind sharing your experience?

Thanks.

M, My kids are older (17 & 13), but I still could share my experiences with you. Even though they are older, they have still been deeply affected by all this. Sometimes I ask myself if it would have been easier when they were younger. My sister got a divorce when her son was 3 and he has done very well through it all, esp since he didn't have to grow up in a dysfunctional environment. When I went through my court ordered divorce class, I learned that divorce is the hardest on middle and high school aged children and that younger children tend to bounce back the fastest. I knew our marriage was in serious trouble years ago, but I just wasn't ready to leave back then. B
