I dont know what to do...

We have twin boys age 10...well really "I" do but whatever...

He moved away -- 2 hour drive and has had another child since the divorce

He is over 12,000 arrears in Child support and I have recieved 16.24 TOTAL EVER!!

So I support my kids 100% with no help - nothing.

I just found out he is on public assistance. I know this man he is lazy! He cant keep a job.

What I cant understand is how the government will offer him money but nothing to the kids? I think its terrible...and NOTHING is being done. Cant suspend his license or take any action because by law they cant if someone is on public assistance.

He is doing this on purpose! Choosing to stay unemployed.

I have so much anger and hatred for this man ... I know I shouldnt say this but I wish he was dead.

He has no idea what he has done to his boys and he doesnt care...

:(

Hi i am in Illinois and i know that when a deadbeat is more than $5000 in arrears they can suspend his license i believe. Have you contacted an attorney regarding this? If not i would say to do it. He seems like he only cares for himself..My STBX is the same way. Although we are not divorced yet he has gotten another woman pregnant and now pays NO attention to our son who is 9..i dont know what these men think...he wont give me any $$ either and wont pay bills...LOSER...well good luck to you hang in there and contact an attorney if u can..

Are you quite sure about the public assistance? Holy cats! In my state there is NO public money for voluntarily un-employed adults. There are brief insurance programs to help inbetween jobs or during disability... your would have to lie like a sofa to get 2 cents. And THEN, a huge chunk of his assistance check would be withheld and sent to his children.

Our worker at the Child support enforcement office called me back because I was calling to check status - I asked WHY is nothing being done when he is over 12,000 in arrears and his license WAS suspended for a couple months and in October it was reinstated when he had mad NO payments?? I was told he was on public assistance and when someone is on public assistance the HAVE to reinstate the license ...(ya know so they can drive to pick yo their welfare checks ...not visit their children tho) ughhhh so pissed!

Hi there.....

In my divorce I learned that the state or government cannot and will not put the ex husband below the poverty level in ordering child support etc.....

Even if he is arrears.

Chances are, public assistance IS or is below the poverty level in your state and they can't do anything to him unless he gets a job.

I'm sorry. I know this isn't fair. It stinks and all that jazz..... believe me, I know.

Hugs to you and good luck.
