My STBX was supposed to pay the last half of rent, but decided that he needed to have a cell phone instead. Now, the landlord is calling and I don't know what to do, since we know don't have the money to pay rent. He is still living with us until after I have the baby, in three weeks and I get a job. He is even refusing to call the landlord back and acts like it is no big deal. I am very stressed out, since I know I am going to have to be the one to deal with it. He has gone thru all of the money that we had saved and it is driving me crazy, maybe that is his intentions, I don't know. Right now, I am at a loss about what to do, because with two little ones and one on the way, there is really no where for us to go if we do get kicked out. Thru our whole marriage of almost 6 years, he has never been late on rent or anything. Since we moved out to Texas, to be closer to his parents, he has changed and not for the better. I am thinking of talking to his mom, who doesn't even know what is going on with us, about spotting the money for rent, but I feel that it is his mistake, not mine so he should have to deal with it. Please if you have any advice on what to do, let me know.
TIA
Rebecca

I had to deal with this as well.
My XH left me pregnant with one little one and moved in with his girlfriend. He gave me every penny he had made until 3 months later when he lost his job. Then, still pregnant, I had to fight the bill collectors and fight shut offs. It was horrible stress. I even had to borrow for groceries.
My advice is to do what is best for you. If you have to fight it, yeah it will suck, but you have to look out for you, something he is obviously not doing. Your the one who will get kicked out if you don't pay your rent. Do what you have to do to get it from family members.
Hugs to you and good luck.

I would tell HIM..... if you can't come up with the money for your part of the rent, like we agreed, I'm going to start calling family to see if we can borrow the money.... then call his mom.
If you have a MONTHLY lease, then technically.... unless it's worded in your lease differently.... they can't kick you out until you're a full 30 days behind, however, late fees can accrue.
Hang in there!
