My 18 year marriage slowly crumbled and we have been seperated a year. I am moving out of the house April 6th as it is going on the market. I have my kids, my health, a job I love, sort of a new man (taking it very slow). My traditional Catholic father(on his third marraige is being an a$$), but really I am so happy. I will have my own place for the first time in 40 years of existance. SBT Ex and I are agreeing on everything and are friends and using a mediator smoothly. I am so excited about my new life. Am I a weirdo?

I am very happy for you. Wish it could be that way for us. Do you have children? It is great if it can be peaceful with children, but I bet it is easier to be peaceful without children.

Of course you're not a weirdo!!lol

Enjoying yourself, your life is not an oddity!! Although after all the years of awful marriages, we "think" it is at first. I still do!!

Just know that you are worth the effort, and deserve all the good that comes your way!!

Hi There! First of all -- no! you are not weird!! I agree with the other posters -- consider yourself lucky! I am in a similiar situation -- married 18 1/2 yrs, have 2 wonderful teens, great part-time job & school. We are about halfway through the mediation process & considering all, it's going as amicably as can be expected.

I just keep in mind that it's not over 'til it's over, but like you, am excited and know that everything will work out in the end. While we are in fortunate positions compared to other posters on this board -- we all have our issues to deal with, be it past, present or future -- who knows! -- so, i can understand your 'cautiousness' in questioning your current 'good fortune.'

Best of luck with everything! Cheers, bunny
