Another new job update...

I have found out more info about the new position... I ran into my new boss at a company meeting on Monday and he advised that things were still being finalized, as far as transition dates, etc were concerned, but he was thinking August 7 would be the day... so today, in my old team's meeting, I get asked when my transition date is... well, I haven't been told for certain is my answer (because I hadn't), and Brian advised that we would take it offline, which was fine... my HR stuff does not need to be the subject of the team meeting...
Anyway, it appears that August 7 is the real date now... which actually isn't that far away... I will be using this week in the dept to continue my daily tasks and work on tying up my many loose ends that need to be handled, so they do not come back to haunt me later...
I met with my new boss today because of an issue I was needing to handle and we started to discuss things... his plans, his ideas... some of my first projects and the steps I'll need to take to get to those first projects... I'll be spending a couple of mornings over there with them next week to work on getting my feet wet slowly, so I can be that much more effective when I start... he asked if my old boss and director had been giving me heck for the change and I said not yet... it is bound to happen once I'm outta there...
Part of the meeting was time and scheduling, etc--he told me how flexible he is in that regard and as long as we put in a good week's work, the hours themselves don't matter so much to him... also, my seasonal holidays and weekends are ending, unless there is a convention or other meeting, in which, well, they may occur, of course. This is all a breath of fresh air in so many ways and a situation that I see being much more family friendly.
I also got to meet with the one other team member who wasn't at last weeks meeting because she was doing some field trial work out of state... she was just so excited to have me there and told me that she and the other team member who participated in the interviews were pulling for me from the day we interviewed... I just have such a good feeling about this with it being such a good opportunity and had to share!
*hugs*

julie - i am so happy for you. it sounds like things are really looking up for you.
good luck!!
Thanks Karen & SK...
I acutally went over to the other group for a while this morning... Brian (current boss) said that's when they could "have" me... until 11... I feel like I have a curfew again, only its 11AM instead of PM... It was fun though... got back in the lab and got to do some testing, getting my feet wet after being out for several years... I'll probably continue to go over there every morning next week as well... until 11 of course, and then my coach apparently turns into a pumpkin! :)
The heck for the change has started... I think Brian is showing signs of separation anxiety... LOL... He gave me something to work on that wasn't a priority, but is "a higher priority than cleaning out your desk, because you still have a whole week here." That followed by a request for him to take some stuff down to FedEx today (its on the way to his car) on his way out... I turned and walked away to get the stuff and he said that he should let take their own crap down for themselves... Not to mention that he checked to make sure that I was back before my curfew...
I was talking with one of my co-workers who has been with us for about 3 months now, and she was like, Brian's really gonna miss you... Its not like I'm leaving the company--I'm just moving to another group, one that works closely with my current group and I'll probably still work closely with Brian on a lot of stuff... but she wanted to know how long we've worked together and it has been five years (!)--I didn't realize it had been that long till I said it and it will be different, but change can be a good thing...
Anyway, just giving you yet another update, because I'm so excited and looking forward to it and am starting to get a little sad at the same time all ready... what a mess am I? LOL
Have a great weekend!
*hugs*
Julie
PS... SK, it is great to "see" you... everyday when I hear the news, you're in my thoughts... stay safe, OK?
hey julie - so far we are 'safe' here, out of the range of rockets (altho there is always the fear of suicide bombers....)
thanks for the kind thoughts and prayers. I just hope that this war will end soon.
