Anyone getting a divorce in Texas?

I am in Texas and the laws here are ridiculous. No alimony, no fault state. It doesn't matter that he had a year and a half long affair because it's no fault!

Just curious to see if anyone here is in Texas, and what really to expect.

Shocked

Sorry, shocked! But I just got a Texas-divorce and got the alimony and nearly everything else! We had been married over 20 years and he had gone to New Orleans to work after katrina, found himself loving all the stripper/prostitutes and stayed quite busy with several ( one 26 yr.old in particular!). By the time I filed for divorce I had phone records, dates of time he had spent "at home" and dates he spent down there, money transactions between us, and from the cell phone records I had most of the womens names, addresses, and what their "occupations" were. Granted I was possessed in some ways to find the info, but when the divorce was over (and their were no children) I got the max in alimony, 90% of the property, and the divorce was granted on "abandonment and adultrous behavior" ----- not that crappy "irreconciable differences" that you are talking about. I paid dearly for the attorney, but I got it MY Way.
Texas does have alimony now. If you are married for more than 10 years, you can receive it for a period of 3 years. Not long, but a good foundation. I have MS so my alimony is for life unless I remarry and heaven, that will never happen!!!
Bear down on your attorney. Be polite but remember He/She works for you!
Good luck!

Thanks for your reply, but my situation is very different. We have only been married 6 years, together 12. He had a year long affair and I have the proof. But it doesn't seem to matter since we were only married for a short amount of time. I moved all over the country with him for his job and we have one ds who is 3. I never completed my education because I was moving with him. Stupid, I know. Boy have I learned a lesson there.

Anyway...I meet with my lawyer in a week. I am feeling hopeful, because stbx is feeling guilty. So hopefully I can get him to agree on alot more.

Thanks again.
