Hi strong women,

Is anyone out there trying to figure out what to do, how to make ends meet if you are divorcing, but have been out of the work force for a long time?

You need to talk to a lawyer. He/She will be able to give you all of the answers you are needing. There might be a consultation fee but you really need to know what your rights are and what you are entitled to.

Definitely speak to a lawyer as soon as you can & don't sign anything without a lawyer reviewing it. In my state for instance, "shared" custody means the non custodial parent (usually the father) pays a lot less in support. And he is entitled to take the kids half the time, but doesn't have to take them at all if he doesn't want to. So you need to learn the legal definitions of the terms in your state.

Both lawyers I consulted flat out said I would have to go back to work. We've been married 14 yrs; I've been at home over 8 yrs. I've been job hunting & will probably temp for a while to build my skills back up & learn the new tech.
