support network,

argh!! my attorney is AWFUL -- he absolutely will NOT follow up on anything. no matter how much documentation i provide or leg work I do, NOT him, he will not follow up. i've had it up to here! and he's never in the office?!

i had to call him 3 weeks AFTER mediation (he didn't call me). when STBX and his attorney sent responses to my initial divorce settlement agreement, 3 weeks ago, MY attorney mailed me, as copy, of their responses; he didn't bother to call or nothing to inform me of their responses or go over anything with me relative to the legal language contained in the document.

then, when i did respond and dropped off my answers to my attorney, he didn't and still hasn't called; i left him a message saying this is totally unacceptable! but still no urgency (arghh!!)

i just really feel like i'm losing allll the way around this process (while STBX continues to gain, gain, gain, in all this morass, which is majority HIS fault). i document, doesn't seem to help; STBX hasn't paid child support since Oct. 2006, i've informed attorney, doesn't seem to help (he's nonresponsive). and i'm too deep in the divorce process to switch attorneys, not to mention, i have NO money.

any advice for putting a fire under this sorry divorce lawyer??

I got frustrated as well with my attorney and planned an attack! I figured that he could very well not return my calls, but if I showed up at the office SOMEONE would have to talk to me. I don't know how advisable this is, but it was my plan. In the end my attorney called before I had to go this far.

I will say he still stinks though. My divorce was final back on November 8th and he still hasn't notified me. I called the court, went down and looked at the file myself, and now am just waiting to see how long it takes for him to notify me. It's kind of a game at this point.

Good luck with what sounds like a bad situation with your attorney. I would personally just go down to the office and sternly tell them you want to talk to someone NOW.

Sounds like my first lawyer. I'd interview other lawyers. I found my current (WONDERFUL) lawyer on the internet just googling lawyer and my city. She took notes for the first half of our consultation, and then I said "Could you please let me know if you're going to be able to help me within a month or so, because if not, I need to find someone who can." And she looked at me like I was nuts and said "Oh, I'm going to make phone calls right now!" Before I left her office, 3 of my 4 issues were nearly resolved!
