Wow big problem. We each have a car. Both registered to my H. I called asking about how much to take on the insurance for just my car. Well my car has to be registered to me and I have to be on the financing to get a new policy on my car. Our policy can't remain the same after the divorce. How have you dealt with this type of issue?

"Well my car has to be registered to me and I have to be on the financing to get a new policy on my car. Our policy can't remain the same after the divorce."

It looks like changing the insurance at this point is premature. You have not yet been awarded the car in a final settlement. When the papers are all finished, you and your husband will have decided who gets what, house, cars, retirement funds. If you recieve this car, you will need to pay off the joint loan on the car (either with cash from the divorce or by obtaining a new loan in just your name). Then you will hold sole title and can insure it.

You must both make sure that neither one of you continues to have any property or any loans that are joint. The divorce is not completed until you are both fully un-entangled. Don't leave an open door so that he can smash your credit by refusing to pay a joint debt.
