Better to leave or tell him I am?

Is it better to just be gone one day and leave a note saying I've tried but won't do it anymore or to sit down and say I'm leaving and this is the day I'll move?
We really don't have anything to divide as I'm willing to leave all the furniture, etc. No kids, no house. My only concern is both vehicles are financed in my name (he can't get financing) and I let him charge $4,000 on my credit card for dental work which he says he plans on paying off.

well, its always a *better* idea to end things amicably. but it depends on the situation. if you are afraid that your husband will try to stop you , if you are afraid of any violence - then of course its better to just leave. but if you can work this out - then why not do it amicably?
in my situation - my ex was extremely controlling and abusive. i tried to get him to agree to get divorced and he wouldn't - for the longest time. i knew that if i tried to leave when he there, i wouldn't be able to leave, and if so - i wouldn'tbe able to take ANYTHING with me. so i took the opporutnity when he was on a "business trip" , packed up, and moved out. in the end, it was a good idea (for me) - it was a great ego-trip, for myself and my son - we "did it" - moved on, found another apart., got internet hook up, etc etc.
