IT's OVER! My court date finally arrived and it's over! I am so so so happy. It almost didn't happen at one point and my attorney joked that i'm a jinx. For some reason the power went out at the courthouse and was out for about 30 minutes! I was stressing because Julie told me if it didn't go on soon, they'd cancel morning court - then the lights went on! WHEW! So I'm doing my happy it's all done dance!!!!

LOL! Yep Laura, I do have the things I like to do now that he hated. I love Sergio Mendez Brazil 66 and he HATED it. Of course he subjected the whole family to Skinny Puppy..- blech. I also only buy the coffee I like which is usually flavored (he hated that) and I can keep wine (any alcohol actually) in the house because I know it will last a long time (he'd drink it all in the blink of an eye). Some nights the kids and I have cereal for dinner because we feel like it and no one minds! YAY! It's a great feeling !

When is it absolute in IL?

In MA your divorce is final 30 days after court, and is absolute 90 days after that.

once the judge signs it, its done. generally there is a 1 year wait from time of filing until it can be finalized-except if you file under abuse (emotional or physical). This is of course dependent on if the stbx spouse shows up to court. If they dont, there can be a 30 day wait until final. This is happening to my friend right now (3/2 is her 30 days thank GOD!).

Congrats eatatmoms!! And

Yes you were part of the whole thing if I remember correctly :). Yep, off to Texas we go for a new beginning. I'll have my own home with the kids until things become more official. In the meantime I really need the closeness with E and I know that this is best for all of us. I'm very grateful for housing prices here going up up up and housing prices there being amazing.

PS as far as I know the divorce was all final as I watched the judge sign the paper. The ex signed a waiver so he didn't have to appear in court :).

Oh interesting in MA there is no waiting time. You go to court. Then your divorce is final 30 days from the court date, then 90 days from the final date its absolute, which means if my ex and I decided we wanted to be back together between the the date of the divorce being final and the divorce being absolute we could go back to the court and say we wanted to be "married" again, put paperwork back through the court and we wouldn't have to get "remarried" they would just squash everything, but once the absolute date goes through then you would have to get "remarried".
