Can I ask this of my ex?
| Mon, 11-28-2005 - 8:31pm |
My kids were telling me that the other day when x was taking them over to his GF's house that while crossing the bridge the truck skidded and almost hit an oncoming car.
Do I have the right to ask him NOT to take the kids 45 minutes to her house in bad weather? I was going to suggest that if he HAS to go there that I want the kids home with me. Do I have the right to ask that?

I guess you can ask anything you want, but while the kids are in dad's custody, it's pretty much up to him what to do during that time, as long as it's not illegal...
I'm sure you might have had a close call or two, we all do. Just think - do you have a problem with them going over there in good weather??? I never asked what my ex-H did with my son when he was with him and his girlfriend, it just, as Dr. Laura says - was not a hill I wanted to die on.....
Yeah, you can ask.... but the fight you get from him will not be worth it. It is dad's decision when they are with him. Trust him as a parent regardless of what your personal feelings towards him are.
Hugs and good luck!

Hey there stranger!! How's school going?
It's so difficult because I hate for them to be on those dangerous roads and all those 18 wheelers that go that route. Uggg. I told my daughter that I didn't want to know about any more "close calls". I guess I just pray that the stormy days are on my weekends.
Hey there!
School is going well! Thank you for asking :) I have finals coming up and I am working now as well. I am a busy busy woman.....
How are you?
I know it's hard. Believe me. The snow was flying last visit that the kids had with their dad and his route back to his house is totally thruway. LOTS of trucks and LOTS of open road with LOTS of traffic. I worry all the time, but, we have to know that XH is a parent too and we have to trust them. We just have to. It stinks, but we do.
Hugs to you and good luck!

Wow, finals! I went to college while raising my kids and it was tough, but I loved school!! I met a lot of friends there that I still hang out with. College totally changed my life and the hard work was so worth it. I have actually played with the idea of going back for my masters degree to be a nurse practitioner, but I think I'm going to wait for my kids to get older. My son is three years away from starting college himself and I want to be able to help him pay for his education.
This time of year really makes me nostalgic of my college days. There was always so much happening at once and then it was such an awesome feeling after finals week to have NOTHING to do!! Best of luck and let us know how it went!
