At this point (one year), I wish I had never gone the collaborative route.

I did not work for most of our marriage, so all I have is social security from before I started staying at home.

I really don't understand why you aren't getting 1/2 of his federal pension. Sure there is a SS offset, but say he gets $1000/mo for a pension, considering the amt of time you have been married, why aren't you getting $500 a month? The offset means that if he also worked in a private sector job and would have received some money for that, say $1500, then he only receives $500 from SS & the govt' pension. My ex was a post office employee (still is) and I am getting 50% of his pension for the time he was married to me, which will be less than 50% of his pension since we were only married 13 yrs and up to date he has worked about 27 yrs for the po and is only 48 so he can't retire for a while. I think you should consult someone who is an expert is this area cause I don't think you are getting a good deal.

Hi Malibu,

Your lawyer can hire someone to evaulate his pension plan.
