Did something for me!

In high school and college, I was involved in a lot of theater. I actually thought I might end up being an actress one day! Well, that was my dream...it didn't end up being reality once the rent or mortgage had to be paid :)

The 12 years I was with my STBX, I did not audition for one single play. I was so exhausted from working and taking care of our household and son with next to no help fom him, I just couldn't do it. Plus, he rarely came home, so it would have been impossible for me to make it to auditions, let alone actually rehearse for a play.

Needless to say, my acting skills are a bit rusty....but I auditioned for a community theater play on Sunday night! I was nervous as anything, but I went. And guess what?? I got called back for tonight! Now, I might not be able to accept a part because of scheduling conflicts, but it felt SO good to get out there. Like my life is finally coming together.

I would suggest if there's something you've given up for your ex or family, now is the time to try it again. Getting back out there made me feel like a million bucks.

Good luck tonight! I will be anxious to hear how it goes!
GFY for getting back into the theater. I cannot even list all the things I will do/say/think/feel again once STBX is no longer my problem!

That's wonderful for you. . .and I'll second the sentiment that if there's something you once did or even remotely thought about doing but never tried it, now is the time to try new things.

I took up Tae Kwon Do in January. My (then) 4 yo son started classes in September and I enjoyed watching the progress he made. . .and noticed lots of adults at lots of skill levels. I needed something to channel my pain and frustration and emotions into in January, so I decided to give it a shot.

I earned my orange belt (first rank above white/beginner) in 4 weeks and will test for my yellow belt in 2 weeks.

I've never felt better about myself. . .inside and out.

Isn't Tae Kwon Do a blast? I got interested in it too when my then-5-yo son started taking it last summer. I have been doing it since January and find it is a good release for the frustrations I feel lately. I am not sure how long I'll be able to do it, though, as I am a creaky 40-something. Somedays, my knee gets a bit swollen from all the kicking. I'm loving it though. : )

Also - Christine! - good for you on auditioning for a play! Break a leg! I was involved in community theater for many years (my Mom actually helped found and run a theater when I was growing up). I haven't acted since I was pregnant with my ds. I auditioned for something last January - and it did feel so very good to do so. I didn't get cast, but came close. The part was small enough that I think I would have taken it if I'd been offered it. I definitely want to get back into acting some day - right now just isn't the time as my son is just too distressed with the changes going on in his Dad's life.

For now - we have a lot of fun practicing Tae Kwon Do together!
