Divorce Final on Tuesday

Hi, my divorce is final on Tuesday and I am looking for suggestions on how to get through that day. Even though this is what I want, after my reaction to the court hearing (I was an emotional basket case), I am worried about Tuesday. I feel so alone, we didn't have children it was just us (and his step children which obviously are not around me anymore.) Any advice/suggestions on how to get through next week would be appreciated. Thanks, Karen

Hey there Karen...

If I were in your shoes, I would try to spend the week surrounded by those you love and those who love you.

Hi Karen
Take someone with you. A friend, sibling, someone. Do not go alone to the hearing or just with your attorney. You need to take someone with you who is there just to support you and be there for you. And have a plan of what do to after the hearing. Where you are going to eat, shop, spend time, whatever it is, have a plan so you don't finish with the hearing and then say "now what do I do?".

Hey Karen,
I posted on this topic o, a week or so ago...see "the end is near..." My divorce will be final on Wednesday...only difference is that stbx is going to court, not me, so that is a ginormous relief for me...I felt the same way about having to go. I got pretty much the same advice that you are getting. I've have to work (I'm a teacher at a summer camp and have 12 3 yr olds from 1-6 that day) but after that, my fellow teachers and some friends are going to meet down at a nearby marina to celebrate the ordeal that they have all helped me through in the last 11 months. I've recently started dating again, and although I didn't make a "date" for the night, one of my new "friends" said he would drop by too. I look at this as a positive thing. Finally closure to what has been a very draining ordeal.
Please, let me know how your day goes and I'll do the same.
Good luck, Karen...hugs to you!

Thanks for the responses, they really do help. I do not have to go to court again, we only had to go once so Tuesday is just the day it is final. We went to court in March and had to wait for it to be official. I do have to wait for the final document in order to change my name.

I will let you know how Tuesday goes. Thanks again for the support, Karen
