Divorce Process

My STBX was served on Jan. 16....so his 30 days is up, but my lawyer keeps wanting me to convince him to come in to his office and sign his portion. STBX says he want's nothing to due with the process, he's not going to hire a lawyer, he won't go to my lawyers office, he's not filing his papers...nothing! Anyone been through this type of situation? What's going to happen??

My husband said he wouldn't participate in the process either.
It's easier and less expensive if he'd come to your attorney's office to review and sign the papers (or take a copy for an attorney to review on his behalf).
You might just tell him that if you have to have him served, it will add to the expense and reduce HIS bottom line... often times the judge orders divorce expenses to be split.

It does vary from state to state and someone answered that yes it would be easier if he would cooperate but I was in the situation where you are and it's a tactic on their end to wear you down so you give up, just keep going and remember it all has to end eventually, we just hope it does not drain us financially and emotionally but it does happen. In my state I am not sure exactly how many times they can not sign or contest, I personally had him do it twice now and I am still waiting for the judge's decision without my husband's approval. I was lucky in that my friend's aunt is a paralegal and helped me do this on my own which was a blessing because it can get expensive when they drag their feet but like I said eventually the judge will hear it with or without him. I hope maybe you can talk some sense into
