My friend wants out of the marrige and is hoping that his iwfe leaves on her own accord but she is not. I ask him all the time why he does not just go to a lawyer and get this process started and he says he has no money. He is just waiting for her to leave. They are in seperate bedrooms, do not even communicate with each other at all. So my question is: if he starts the process what can he expect? How much money? They have no kids. This should be a snap right?

In this case its better to be proactive and start it. Don't wait for her to leave.

Pretty much, without kids, its about splitting assets and debts, 50/50 on both.

Of course, if one of them wants to be vindictive, you can blow every cent they have. And don't worry, there's plenty of lawyers who will help them blow all of their money.
