thanks!

I am a lurker, and not divorced, but I have three friends who were divorced before they were 25 and they are all now in their 40s have been in long-term, very successful marriages for years and years (some as long as 18). So I wanted to let you know that it all usually turns out well in the end.

Hi,

You're not the only one. :) I am 25 and filed divorce papers on Thursday. My husband is 26. We dated for 4 years, married almost 3. I really don't want to get divorced- he dropped the bomb on me about 6 weeks ago and wasn't open to counseling or even trying to work things out. The only reason I had to file is to protect my share of our joint savings, which he had started to withdraw.

It is really hard- I feel like a statistic now along with all the grief, pain and confusion. I honestly think we did everything right though (premarital counseling, good communication, etc.) and for some reason he just changed his mind.

The other hard part is that we have been together my entire adult life. I feel like I have to figure out all over again what I want, my goals, even how to make big decisions by myself.

No i'm 27 and trying to figure this all out. The hard thing is that my husband is now being the guy i've always wanted, but i know it won't last. we're both good people, just so miserable together that we dont act like ourselves anymore. i felt sad that i was young and getting divorced, but i think a good support group can help you to realize that you are young, great and have lots to look forward to.

Nope, you're not alone! I just turned 25 in April, and STBX and I have been seperated since May of 2007. I can't believe it's been so long.....but anyway, the divorce process is just taking such a long time! I'm hoping for everything to be finalized before the end of summer.

Like another poster said, I too feel like a 'statistic'. Married young (19), divorced young, single mom (2 kids). I hate to even think about it...
