Don't things come in threes?????

So I had to fire the painter. Not REALLY bad, and kind of funny.
Tonight, I was in very slow moving, stop and go traffic. I was behind a camaro and it's got those weird double tail lights that sort of go on and off. Anyway.... I thought he was moving forward, so I took my foot off the brake and I think I gave it a bit of gas, but noticed he was stopped, so I slammed the brake and bumped him. (key word, bumped)
He pulls over into the median/turn lane and gets out of the car holding his neck. Says nothing. Kneels down on the ground and starts examining his bumper.
Usually, this is the point where both parties shrug, get into their cars, and drive away. But NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO. He says "I need to take this to the dealership. It's a brand new car and there might be thousands of dollars worth of damage." (I'm THINKING "WTF????") So I reply, "That's your choice, but then I want the police to be called. Are you going to do it or do you want me to?" He says he'll do it.
So we're in rush hour traffic, waiting for the police. For an hour. Guy pulls up behind me, gets out, I get out and hand him my license and registration and he looks at my car and the other car, then looks at me funny. The guy I hit comes up with his stuff and the cop takes it all back to his car. A few minutes later, he comes up and asks us to pull into the parking lot across the street, so I get into the car, but alas, my battery is now dead. So I go back and tell the policeman, who's very nice about it and asks if I have jumper cables. Yes I do! So he calls another policeman who gets there in 30 milliseconds and jumps me, but asks why my battery died in the middle of the road. When HE hears that I was just in an accident with no damage, HE looks at me funny and says "Most people just exchange information and drive away." and I said "True, but most people don't say there might be thousands of dollars worth of damage to a car with no visible damage."
While we're waiting for the policeman to finish the report, he's down on the ground again, rubbing the bumper and looking in his trunk. So I realized that I hit Mr. Mid-life Crisis. He's 6 months older than me (41) with a potbelly, unkempt grey hair and beard driving a fire engine red camaro.
When I called my insurance company to open a claim, the nice lady (Nina) went through all the usual questions and after I answered both questions about the damage with "NONE", she asked why we called the police. Because he said there might be thousands of dollars worth of damage from the less than 5 mph accident, of course! So help me, if he claims whiplash, I'll scream.
I'm laughing pretty hard just writing this! So do you think the painter was 1, the accident 2, and the dead battery was 3? Or am I in for something else??

Owie!.... I do hope "that makes three" :-)
After the past few days, you've got to be destined for sunnier days..... :-)

PG was wondering if you should file a separate charge against this man connected with:
"NON-PHYSICAL ASSAULT THAT CONTRIBUTED TO A 'DEAD BATTERY'!"
Pianoguy
*L* PG, thank you for that laugh!
He apologized to me for the dead battery and I thought "You SHOULD be apologizing to me for wasting 90 minutes of my time so that you can go to a dealership and have the mechanics look at you like you're crazy!!"

But of course!
I'm glad I had an experience 20 years ago where XH bumped a guy.... no damage so they exchanged information and he drove away. The guy said it wasn't his car, (license plate was his name) and that he'd just got out of the hospital with back problems. We drove STRAIGHT to the police station where a very nice officer confirmed that the car WAS his and filled out a report that there was less than $200 damage. Midway into the report, the guy walks in and the officer pretty much poo-poo'd him because there was no damage.
Couple months later, we get this letter from an attorney. He's suing us for $1.5 MILLION. Needless to say he got a new bumper for $230, but that's all. (I don't think it needed it)
I'm REALLY glad I got that police report last night!!!!! So if he tries to sue me, I think I WILL claim emotional distress! *snicker*

I lady rear ended my dad a couple of weeks ago... she was swatting at her kiddo in the back seat, and kissed him.
