Dress burning pics!

Some of you may think this is a little nutty, but after my divorce was final yesterday, I decided to burn my wedding dress. It was kind of a therapeutic act for me, and felt like it gave me the final closure I needed. Now, this dress had no monetary value. I bought it for about $200 about eight years ago, and it was very dirty and messed up from the reception. I never had it cleaned because it would have cost more than I spent on the dress. Also, I don't have any daughters....not that they'd want to wear it anyway. It was kind of powerful watching it burn down to nothing. It almost felt like all the pain and disappointment was being destroyed with it. Yesterday was definitely a bittersweet day.

But for your viewing pleasure, I have attached some pictures of it!

And the fairy brought fresh magic dust in the form of ashes to mark the beginning of a new, wonderful era of your life!

You've inspired me to do the same with my wedding dress... I don't have any daughters either, so it's not super important to save it. Mine cost about $200. in 1986, and it's pretty fugly. Maybe I'll post the pics when I torch it. :-D

I'm glad it made you feel better. Women need rituals to help them find closure and feel better. (Gee, it made me cry to look at your pictures...and I'm not even sure why). Jo

p.s. I'll have to think about what I'll do. I'm thinking of having my wedding set redone. The solitaire is one carat, but I'm not sure how to remake it. Maybe some kind of ring. I also have an original wedding set that I need to put in the will or something.
