Feeling lost

Hello. I'm new to this board.
Anyhow, my life now is pretty much a rollercoaster of emotions comparable to going through hell. I am trying desperately to move on with my life. However, since our seperation my ex has done everything in his power to make my life hell. I do not understand why he cannot just leave me alone. Our marriage was hell because of his abusive nature.
How long does a divorce take? We've been seperated almost 6 months? I just want some closure. How do I somehow get be civil enough to get along with him for the kids sake? This hole experience makes me feel like my life has been turned upside down. It's horrible. And why do former mutual friends treat you differently? It makes me so angry.

I can sympathize with you completely.
Pretty much all of our friends we have had don't call. I think they don't know or are afraid to say anything for fear it will get back to the other party. I'm thinking maybe in a year I can try and rekindle some of those relationships but for now, my family is my support group. My in-laws help but are also keeping distance. I will have my ex MIL watch my sons once in a while and basically I just talk about the weather or the kids. I don't say anything that is going on with the aftermath of the divorce.
My divorce was final 5 months after I filed. There is a 90 day waiting period in the state I live and we are amicable enough to agree on the divorce decree. However, the hard part I am having now is ex following through with the decree. So the next saga is the payments.
Good Luck!

Pianoguy...who is a male...thinks the reasons "mutual friends" avoid calling is because they HONESTLY don't know if they should side with the man or the woman? So it's easier to stay away from BOTH!
If you truly want closure...and it has been 6 months...see a lawyer about a no-fault divorce settlement. Depending upon what your EX will agree to...this might be the easiest (and cheapest) way out!
Going on indefinitely isn't good for you or HIM! There are people in this world who will bully you to death.....IF YOU LET THEM?
