If he has a lawyer that's *so* smart.... then let his lawyer draw up the paperwork (and if you go to see his lawyer, LISTEN ONLY.... don't agree with or comment about anything one way or the other.
First question: Why are you two living in the same house? How are you doing that? OMG! I would not be able to do that. I am also going through a divorce. Just started actually. His lawyer ALSO tried to do the same thing with me one day. Have to be strong because they see right through it. I probably wasn't too convincing when he approached me. Learned how they do it though.
It's not fun, but I know in the end I will be happier and less stressed out. That is the hard part, I miss the good things and times, but there were more bad towards the end than good.
I guess its too late to suggest mediatoin, if you both have attys?
How long do you fight? Here's what *I* learned. Find out what your state normally does ... eg: mine is a 50/50 state. Just b/c I supported us, he was always out of work, he was an alcoholic & abusive --- he STILL is entitled to 50% of MY retirement (he didnt have one) & 50% of the equity in our home, if i wanted to (whch i did), buy him out. Its INFURIATING.
