Hi,

I have been going thru a divorce since Nov 2003, we are at a stand still because stbx is fighting the amount of alimony the court awarded me..

My lawyer has just informed me that she had taken another job out of town and will be leaving in a few weeks, she is passing me on to another lawyer..I asked her if I would once again have to pay this new lawyer another X amount for a retainer, she told me I would.

Has this happened to anyone else..nothing since this whole D started has been fair but this just seems to take the cake,,I figure its not my fault I need to hire a new lawyer..,,so why the heck should I have to pay another retainer fee..especially since I am broke..

thanks

No that doesn't seem fair. I havent' actually started the process yet so I'm sure I'll find out all about it. I'm hoping he pays for it all, he kicked me out, he cheated, so I don't see that I should pay anything. He ran my credit card up over $300 and I agree to pay that, but I think he sould pay for the D.

That doesn't seem fair at all, ask more questions maybe someone can tell you why you do have to pay again. It's not your problem she has another case, she is your lawyer she should just pass it on with no fees. That doesn't make since at all to me.

Sorry I couldn't help but that's just not right.

Hi,

No she was in practice by herself.:) I am hoping this new lawyer will cut me some slack. My stbx's lawyer has been a real SOB,to say the least..so its time I get a break. Its been a long 2years.. thanks
