Since the decision to divorce was made I have been planning a celebration in my head. Not a "screw him" divorce party celebration, but a gathering to honor all the people in my life who have touched me and helped me through this. I sometimes find that I can't even sleep because I'm considering the details of this party, who to invite, how to fund it ;^), what to tell everyone who is there. Did anyone here actually do this? Was it as fulfilling as I'm imagining it to be?

Sounds like a cool idea..... I've heard the idea of a "Divorce Shower" tossed around before.... where friends and family help you replinish what you divided up or need new things for a *fresh* start, like sheets, towels, dishes, etc.... just a little fun thing.

That sounds pretty cool. Like a new life party or second coming out party (the kind you see with debutants, but not that stuffy!). Let me know if you do it and how it goes!

I was definitely planning a celebration, more along the line of a quiet outing with friends and a champagne toast. Life got in the way, but if outside situations had remained normal, it would've happened. I say go for it.

Sounds wonderful...something I would want to come to...hope you make it happen. For myself I think the day it is final will be a party day. Good luck with your party.

It's funny, the other night we were out to dinner at a bar and grille. There was a wait for a table so we waited at the bar. There was a group of people in the corner, older crowd, maybe 40's. Anyway there was this man who the others were making a toast to... one of the toasts was "here's to that bit@h being gone"! Then they went on to talk about the divorce etc....

I think it is a great way to celebrate a new beginning, and get a little name calling of your chest too, if need be ;)
