I was hoping to keep the house through all of this, but there is a good chance I won't be able too.

Weesa08...Could you make a deal with your H to sell the house after the kids graduate from from HS? I do not know where you live but I am involved in my brother's real estate business. We are buying investment properties at 40 cents on the dollar.

Has your attorney suggested credit counseling to help lower the debt?

I was actually going to suggest bankruptcy, then the debt might be all gone and if the house isn't worth that much, then you could keep that too.

I was thinking of that myself but if there is a mortgage on the property the Note is automatically called and the foreclosure process starts.

I have so many questions but there should be a way to handle this.

The house has a lot of equity, but it is a mess and all of that equity would start to vanish quickly.

Hey there weesa,

That fact of the matter is that any debt incurred during the marriage is a debt of the marriage, regardless of which spouse incurred it.

Thank You for the fabulous advice!

I will take the idea to my attorney tomorrow!
