HOW LONG DOES IT REALLY TAKE?

I filed for divorce in the end of june. my lawyer at the time had said that it would be in the end of december when our divorce was to be final. Well it's now March and i haven't recieved a letter or anything stating that it has been finalized. Neither has my " husband" (geez i don't even know what to call him) we have talked about it, he told me that he has not paid the remainder of his lawyer's balance and that maybe that is the reason why we havn't heard anything. can this really happen?
My lawyer gave me a moving notice when he moved his office. but since everything was pretty much calm and we were making good decisions on our own, i kind of lost his number and now after a few months i can't find him anywhere. I was told that since i was the one that filed for divorce, that my "husband" was the one that was gonna get the papers served , but could it be possible that maybe we are already divorced without gettign served? lol did the paperwork get lost in the mail? we both don't know what happend. we both dont even know if were already divorced and we didnt get any letters. how can i find out without my lawyer since i cant find him! or without his since he never paid his fees???
can lawyers really keep paperwork because they werent paid what they were owed???
also... do you guys know how long it takes to get child suport in california? it was suppossed to start in august and i havent gotten a single cent!
i was also pregnant during our situation and since then i had my baby who is now 3 motnhs. how can o add her on the child support?
thanks to anyone who has some insight on this!

I would think that your attorney's old phone numbers would redirect or give you the new number.
