I answered $0 but that's not even right. I pay child support. How much child support is so dependant on income and parenting time, and while many women earn less than their ex-spouse, and most dad's are stuck with EOW visitation, it still can vary so much on the income factor. Expenses for health insurance and daycare can also significantly impact the cs amount.
My x-bf pays over $1,000 per month for one child, but it's way over inflated. The amount includes daycare expense, and his son is in 2nd grade. If it were adjusted under his state law it would be more like $600 or so. The problem is that he can't get it adjusted, his ex keeps using legal tactics to block the court from revisiting the cs amount so he can't even get the state to compute what it should be under their own laws, and she wants it that way not only so she gets to keep the extra money (under the law, she can't be expected to return any overage, until it is recalculated it isn't considered an overage it's just the current order), but also because it prevents him from seeing his son. She moved out of state and seeing him is expensive, and keeping her ex poor keeps him out of her son's life.
I pay my ex support becuase I outearn him. It doesn't matter that he has a masters degree from an ivy league school and I don't, I earn more so I pay more of dd's expenses. I know most are not in my situation, but these are two extremes and people don't just fall in the middle, they make up a whole range in between.
I have 2 kiddos... and my EX pays less than the state determined amount because we have some other conditional things that he's supposed to do (and he knows that if he doesn't that I'll go back and ask for the full amount).
I did find some resources that might help give you some insight......
