You don't have to be alone to be lonely.
It's okay to jump...you have wings!
To move forward...you have to stop looking back.
I am sorry you feel lonely. I am glad you came to the board to vent it out. I have been divorced just over a year, and the feeling doesn't go completely away. I just try to deal with it when it comes and move on. It can be with trying something new, do something for myself, finding peace in the solitude or reaching out to someone.
It has definitely pushed me into doing things and seeing things differently. All the things I believed were to be true are not, and I have to make my new reality OK. That it does not have to be a bad thing. That being a divorced Mom of two glorious children is my reality and it is my family and it is OK.
Take care, and know you are not alone.
Hi,
I feel lonely during visitations and when the kids go to bed. The key is to push yourself to do something, I like reading magazines, but it gets expensive, so I go to the library where they sell past issues for 25 cents, I also asked co-workers if to give me they old magazines, so I don't have to buy. You can also rent movies at the library, try to rent mysteries so they keep your mind busy.
Another thing is to reach out to neighbors, maybe there is an old lady or old couple who would like your company, I did that and it turn out to be a blessing.
Another thing is to call "old" friends and pay them a visit or meet with them somewhere.
To be honest I am not ready to do the "alone" thing like shopping or movies, so I found a way to interact with people, I even starting making playdates for my kids, so I can talk to the moms.
Keep busy, that will help your mind.
