You do not know how long I have wanted to post this... after many many weeks of waiting, I was called and offered the position today. I am beyond excited at this point--Although the HR guy seemed like he was going to tell me that they had offered it to another candidate when he asked if I would consider taking the position... I told him it was like some sick HR joke, but as long as you are giving good news, I suppose its OK... part of the deal is at least a 12% raise, which is wonderful... I don't know if it is 12 or 12.5 though, since he mentioned what it would take me to and of course, I got off on another tangent me being so freaking happy and giddy about it all...
My boss was out of the office today (it is his birthday), so we still have some talking to do about transition dates and that sort of thing... he'll be out again tomorrow, but since he and my boss to be are such good friends, I can't see how he doesn't know that I got the job...
Of course the evil director (the one who was making such a big deal about me having to get off early to pick Joey up such a big deal) was as sweet as sugar today... oh so happy for me, telling me how much I'll be missed and how much I've brought to the team and how a lot of our success as a team has been because of me... which was all nice to hear, but why didn't that matter when schedules were the issue? hmmmm... she mentioned some partial days in both depts due to my transition and while I understand they will be strapped without me, I think a clean break is a better break and am concerned that whenever my old dept needs me they will think they'll just able to call me and I'll be there, so I'm leary, but I will put that in my bosses' hands...
I had to talk to my new boss today about a totally different issue and after we discussed that he asked if I had spoken with anyone today... I told him that I had and that I had accepted the position... then he got all giddy, which is a bit odd for him, but was really cute in a way... I'm looking forward to it...
I am a bit sad that my boss and I will no longer be working together... As I've said before, we have probably the best boss-employee relationship I've had with any of my boss' in the past, but the good news is that since my new dept and my old dept work closely together I will continue to do a lot of work with him. In other sad news, my best friend in the dept also applied and since I got the position, you know that she didn't... She and I are fine, but she is really hurt, as applying for a job totally sets you up for rejection... she was crying a lot today and I just wish there was something I could do, but I know there really isn't... We are all ready planning lunch, since that was on the table at the start... whoever got the position (between the two of us--if any of us) owed the other lunch... but I'd like to do more, you know?
I really am excited though... I have smiled more today than I have in an awfully long time... I'm nervous as it is a new opportunity, one that I hope that I will succeed in... it will bring new challenges and I hope that it is everything I see it to be now...
Thanks again for all of your thoughts along the way... they paid off! Happy Early Birthday present to me!
*hugs*

So was mine... that fruity whatever it was... maybe Brooke will rememeber the name of it again... LOL...
As for temps, I would say that it is freaking bloody hot... highs on the map today were listed between 95 and 102 depending on where in metro Atlanta you're talking about... I can't imagine being out in that at Six Flags (where I don't recall there being much shade) but last year in Disney it was that warm all week and we gladly did it... of course, day one, at Animal Kingdom, we had fun until it became too much for Joey and then it was back to the hotel for swimming... and Magic Kingdom that night for fireworks several hours (and degrees cooler) later...
I still find myself doing my little dance of joy... it is amazing and odd at the same time... permagrin is definitely still on my face...
