...but my guinea pig died this morning and I am VERY upset about it. She had been dumped off at a pet store about 1.5 years ago, and I adopted her from there. They had a whole bunch of them at the time, and DS and I picked her out specifically because she had a very sweet temperament. Lots of guinea pigs can tend to be very hyper, squeak a lot, nip...but not her.

On Saturday morning, with no warning, she was paralyzed from the mid-back down. She hadn't been sick or injured. Other than that, the was eating, drinking, and seemed fine. NO VET in the state was available to see her until Monday - it's hard to find vets that help "exotic" pets anyway. So I had an appointment for this morning. She was even eating last night, but not drinking, then she seemed like she just wanted to hang out in her little hut. She never appeared to be in pain, and I am grateful for that.

Now, why am I so upset? I got her at a time when my first marriage was in a complete shambles and I had just started working from home. I really enjoyed taking care of her, playing with her, etc. She was a good little pet and she meant a lot to me.

DS was with his father this weekend, so he didn't have the chance to say goodbye to her. She was really this family's first "real" pet, so I am sure he is going to take it hard. I'm going to bury her this afternoon in the backyard. I really do feel sad and will miss her :( Rest in peace, Kenobi.

It is never easy to lose a pet, we have lost 3 guinea pigs and last year we lost our black lab. My thoughts are with you!

Big Hugs!

Aw, that sucks! It's always hard to lose a pet. When our fish died, we had a little ceremony before he went to the great septic tank in the sky. Rosie said a prayer while Gracie, very solemnly, flushed.

*hugs*

OK, the thought of the great septic tank in the sky... it's pretty gross.

*L* so I mis-spoke.... you're right... it's a totally disgusting thought! How about "before we buried him in the septic tank: or just a plain ole' "before we flushed him down"???
