Good morning all!!
Sorry that I haven't posted lately. Life has take some twists and turns, and THAT is a post for another day!! I'm going to catch up w you all this next week!!
I got the final signed, t's crossed, i's dotted, final divorce papers on Wednesday! So, it's official!! I'm free!!
Only one prob here . . . the judge ordered me to terminate the PPO that I had out on my x during the final hearing. I voiced then, to my atty and the judge, my x and his atty, that I was NOT comfortable w this. Since, due to the PPO, my x could have no contact w me whatsoever, the judge said the he was doing this so we could have contact on issues concerning our kids. I was livid!! When I got the papers w the final divorce decree, I called my atty's office and asked if I could go to the court, and ask for another PPO. They told me that I have to "wait for something to happen!" I told them that I wasn't ok with this. They said that if I didn't terminate the prior PPO, then the judge would hold me in contempt, and either fine me or throw me in jail!! I told them, that I would probably be safer in jail than w/o the PPO.
Now, after the elation of the papers coming, I'm looking over my shoulder every time that I leave the house. Waiting for the phone to ring, the demanding, demeaning, threatening calls to start back up. I just don't feel safe!! I have to go Monday to file this stupid termination, and am going to tell the judge exactly why I'm doing this, because the other judge is forcing me to, and that I'm not comfortable.
UGH!!!
Anyway, just wanted to keep you all utd, and I'll be back next week to catch up!!!

Laurene,
GL getting the PPO re-instated. Hope nothing untoward happens in the meantime. Just curious, w/the PPO how did you plan to communicate with regard to the children?
M
M,
That's the million dollar question isn't it? I'm planning on discussing this with the judge. My atty wasn't much help on this one. Since the previous PPO was set up so that there was no contact at all, they weren't sure how I could keep him from having contact w me, and still have contact about the kids. I'm going to see if something can be set up through the Friend of the Court system here, where things are supervised. I want things to be open for the kids, and since they don't believe that he's a danger to me, they don't understand why I had the PPO in the first place. A lot was kept from them, my mistake in a lot of ways, to shield them from everything, so they didn't see/hear the threats.
It's quite a quandry though. The perverbial rock and hard place!!
Thanks
Laurene
