Just a Little Update...

Things here are going pretty well on a number of fronts... my new job started on Monday and it is a whole new wonderful world as far as work is concerned. I've gotten in the office when I can and have left accordingly, except for today when I did leave early to get Joey registered for school... I was talking to my new boss yesterday about the vacation I will be taking in September and that it was all ready paid for, so I was going and hoped it would not be a problem... his response... September.... that would be after the Sales Meeting and before the XYZ Convention in October.... that's fine... didn't even ask what dates in September... can I even begin to tell you how good that was to hear?

I'm working on a couple of projects all ready, one of which will be much easier when I get my computer moved to my new location... as it does involve some research, etc... I'm getting my feet wet back in the lab, remember how to do various tests and learning some new ones... I'm also continuing to tie up a couple of loose ends from my old position, but the ones I have remaining are all related to my new position anyway, so it doesn't hurt anything... The biggest headache with that whole deal is that my computer and phone have yet to be moved from one building to another... this is a blessing and a curse, both for the same reason... you can't get in touch with me if you want to do so... Supposably, IT will be moving my stuff tomorrow morning, to resolve this hiccup... I left a message for one of our sales reps today saying that I had answers to her questions, but she might as well not call me back till tomorrow when I may actually be able to receive her call... otherwise, phone and computer in one building, you in the other just doesn't work that well...

I do have to tell you though that I am ~so~ glad that I'm no longer in my old department... they have been working on more changes, but as in any corporate setting, those types of things can take a long time, saying good things were coming for several months now... they are splitting my old group into two and actually my old boss now has a partial reporting relationship to my new boss... but as part of this you have to apply for one group or the other, although, given my background, I know where I would have wound up... and the other part of it is, of course, schedules and shifts are being re-assigned... and there are only 2 of what would have been my needed shift with at least three people, me being the lowest in seniority, that would have been going for it... so it is quite likely that I would have lost the earlier shift that I had just received (before finding out about my promotion) that I needed so I could pick Joey up from school... can I tell you how glad I am to be out and rid of that? Can I tell you how glad my old boss must be to not have me to have to work that out with, especially if his hands are remaining tied with the director? I mean, they say they will work things out this time, but I don't have much faith in that... so it is interesting seeing it from the outside looking in now...

As for Joey, he is super excited about his new school... didn't want to leave tonight when we finished registration... he picked out some new shirts today for school next week and I get to pay for them using a ~child support payment~ that I just received... it is the first one, other than the IRS re-direction of the tax refund, that I have received from xh since 11/2005--not that he's even paid an entire month's CS with those last two payments, but I'll take it, gladly....

Hope everyone is having a wonderful week!

I'm so glad to hear that things are going so well at work (and that they worked out when and HOW they did!)

I hope Joey has fun at his new school.... and yippee about the $$$.

Hey Karen...

Yeah, its amazing ~how~ it all worked out, isn't it? The thing is with my old group is that they really won't be able to do anything right for everyone... it is a large group and someone is bound to be upset with every decision that is made, which is unfortunate, but I am so thrilled that I'm not having to struggle with it anymore... after all, my main struggle is being available to pick up Joey... not that that is a struggle, but that is where my focus has to be... I know you know what I mean...

As for the CS... I don't even get the checks anymore... but I got a statement from the OCSE here and the only time you get one of those, there has been a deposit... so woo hoo! I swear it was like icing on the cake after my past couple of weeks and in the grand scheme of things (the more than 10K he owes right now), it wasn't much, but it was still a couple hundred, so it is appreciated, especially at this time of year with back to school expenses coming... and flying out of my purse!

Ugh, I better go get ready for work... now that I can get there when I want to, I'm trying to move back to an earlier schedule, which works better some days than others... but the sooner I get there, the sooner I can leave and I should have a computer and phone today to help me with my work so it should be a more productive day than the past couple...

*hugs*

I can't tell you how thankful that I am that I can usually revolve my work schedule around my kids, which was nice the 2 prior weeks when I was able to be at school with the band.

Karen...

Computer was delivered by 9:30 and phone was in by 11... since I am now spending a great deal of time in the lab, it truly didn't matter either way, but it is nice to have it there so I can be contacted if someone needs help...

And... today I checked my bank account and saw the CS that I got the notice about being deposited yesterday... plus another deposit dated either today or yesterday... each one the same amount and I'm wondering if they haven't started garnishing... just because I truly don't think that he would send two checks of that size (together, they total more than 1 month's payment) within a week of each other... I'll be really interested to see if they continue...

Just imagine, two months before they get married, xh's paycheck starts getting reduced by several hundred a WEEK... that would have to make ow just thrilled, huh?

I'm exhausted... like I said I was in the lab almost all day today and on my feet and it has been a long time since I stood all day... and we're still business casual, even in the lab, so that still means heels... ugh, my legs are killing me...

Complete Disney Damper... I just think the timing of it all is quite funny... I mean, this past week, I started my new job... my old department is going through another re-org and changing schedules (which would not have worked out well for me, I don't believe--at least the schedule part)... Joey had fun at his last week at his school for the summer... and is terribly excited about starting school at his elementary school on Monday... and then I get two CS payments... that's a pretty good week right there!

Today we are off to see a race... my work sponsors a car and they have a race nearby tonight, so assuming that Joey makes it through the day, that's what we'll be up to tonight... of course, you never know with Joey, but... I showed him the race information this morning, in an attempt to make him want to be good today... keep your fingers crossed!

*hugs*

hey julie - can i come work for your company? whenever any of us plans vacation/work-related conferences etc ---- my boss's response is the same: no. only she says it along with her "we have this huge project coming up doesn't anyone understand this how is this going to work with people taking off from work and getting pregnant or having their parent's die and having to take off for the funeral and this is costing alot of money and do YOU WANT TO SIT IN MY SEAT??? FINE, TAKE MY SEAT I THINK YOU WILL DO A BETTER JOB THAN ME" speech... but i digress....

its great to have a work place that is 'understanding'. i'm sure you will do just great there.

Sure SK... come on over! Just make sure you get in the right department, OK? The one I came from, they were just a bit crazy over time and vacation (everyone had to bid on their time and it was awarded on a weekly basis based on seniority)... so this is truly a breath of fresh air for me... and my first week went really well, I thought... hopefully this coming week will be just as wonderful! But yeah, as far as I'm concerned, you're welcome anytime...
