Give us the basics, or as much as you feel comfortable giving... name, location, children, etc...

Tell us a little bit about yourself... what part of the process you're in...

And... one quote or song that has really spoken to you through this process...

*hugs*

Julie

Well, please keep in touch and if I think of anything more, I'll get in contact. I am leaving early in the morning for a one week vacation, so I won't be online for a week. You picked a nice area for your vacation. You'll be fine with the thin air, but may notice a shortness of breath if doing a lot of hiking, biking, etc. Just make sure you drink plenty of water to prevent dehydration and altitude sickness, and wear sunscreen too since you'll be at a higher altitude. Also, you'll notice that our skies tend to be very bright blue since there's very little humidity here.

I'm Sandra. I live in Colorado. I have two boys, 14 & 16. I'm just starting the process, looking at lawyer/mediator/paralegal services. Hoping that this will be civil. The song that gets me through is the Goo Goo Dolls "Better Days".

Hello my name is Tracey from NJ. In a nutshell - divorced since 1994 (ran 8/2/93, I was 23, final 7/11/94) due to abuse, reconciled for just about 2 yrs not long after it was final –I “knew” that had to be a temporary situation -it was, I ran again. I have one child who is 16 (raising alone -I have no family, not remarried) father (ex) chooses not to see the child in on his weekend visitation for months (3 calls in 6 mos?) and lives 10 minutes away. He’d gone a few months before w/o seeing son, or even on weekends where he just didn’t feel like playing dad –mostly when son had sports, however this is the longest. I had a few years with a wonderful counselor to help deal with the loss of my mother, family and the abuse, she was wonderful. Son and I are doing the best we can with these circumstances. I would like to add that I consider myself a definite “survivor”
I apologize, I am new I still need to learn all the abbreviations here, it’s on my ‘to do list’ which is rather long.
When I read you were asking for songs I just had to respond. I love music, what an idea! So I “Thank You” Julie.
I three songs come directly to mind in regards to either the divorce and/or where I am at now *Hope they don’t give away my age –joking, I forgot to mention I am 37
Phil Collins - In the Air Tonight
Eagles - Wasted Time
Duran Duran - Ordinary World (don’t ask me why this one, maybe because it was big the yr of my divorce?) The lyrics to these songs I found on http://www.sing365.com/
__________
Song: In The Air Tonight Artist: Phil Collins
*** This is the best line in the song for me, I smile when I hear it ;)

Well if you told me you were drowning, I would not lend a hand
I've seen your face before my friend, but I don't know if you know who I am
Well I was there and I saw what you did, I saw it with my own two eyes
So you can wipe off that grin, I know where you've been
It's all been a pack of lies
__________
Song: Wasted Time Artist: Eagles
*To me it says –“See ya” yet with love

Well baby, there you stand
With your little head, down in your hand
Oh, my God, you can't believe
It's happening again
your baby's gone, and you're all alone
and it looks like the end.

And you're back out on the street.
And you're tryin' to remember.
How will you start it over?
You don't know if you can.
You don't care much for a stranger's touch,
but you can't hold your man.

You never thought you'd be alone
this far down the line
And I know what's been on your mind
You're afraid it's all been wasted time

The autumn leaves have got you thinking
about the first time that you fell
You didn't love the boy too much, no, no
you just loved the boy too well, farewell
So you live from day to day, and you dream
about tomorrow, oh.

And the hours go by like minutes
and the shadows come to stay
So you take a little something
to make them go away
And I could have done so many things, baby
If I could only stop my mind from wonderin' what
I left behind and from worrying 'bout this wasted time

Ooh, another love has come and gone
Ooh, and the years keep rushing on
I remember what you told me
before you went out on your own:
"Sometimes to keep it together,
you got to leave it alone."

So you can get on with your search, baby,
and I can get on with mine
And maybe someday we will find,
that it wasn't really wasted time
Mm,hm
Oh hoo, ooh, ohh,
Ooh,ooh, mm
__________
Song: Ordinary World Artist: Duran Duran
*During the divorce this was on the radio a lot, guess I was mourning?

Came in from a rainy Thursday on the avenue
Thought I heard you talking softly.
I turned on the lights, the TV, and the radio.
Still I can't escape the ghost of you.
What has happened to it all?
"Crazy," someone say
Where is the life that I recognize?
Gone away...

But I won't cry for yesterday, there's an ordinary world
Somehow I have to find.
And as I try to make my way to the ordinary world
I will learn to survive.

Passion or coincidence once prompted you to say:
"Pride will tear us both apart"
Well now prides gone out the window, cross the rooftops, run away.
Left me in the vacuum of my heart
What is happening to me?
"Crazy," someone say
where is my friend when I need you most?
Gone away...

And I don't cry for yesterday, there's an ordinary world
Somehow I have to find.
And as I try to make my way to the ordinary world,
I will learn to survive.

Papers in the roadside tell of suffering and greed.
Fear today, forgot tomorrow... oooh
Besides the news of holy war and holy need
Ours is just a little sorrowed talk

(Just blown away...)

And I don't cry for yesterday, there's an ordinary world
Somehow I have to find.
And as I try to make my way to the ordinary world
I will learn to survive.

Every world…. is my world... (I will learn to survive)
Any world is my world ... (I will learn to survive)

Any world is my world...
Every world is our world...
