Has anyone on here used the forms that you can fill out yourself on-line, print and file?

SPB,

Call your local county clerk and ask if they accept filings by private citizens. Some do not. Some do not accept checks from citizens, only attorneys. The County Clerk can answer most of these questions regarding procedure and guide you to what to bring, how it should be signed, whether you need a notary, and what fees are involved. I'd also check to see if you still need to appear before a judge.

Good luck and let us know what you find out.

And, in addition to what wisdomtooth said, I suggest at the very least that you get an attorney to review all documents before you sing them or file them... especially since there are children involved.

Simple and amicable is good, but it can turn sour in a heartbeat if you overlook an important detail that you wish you'd thought to include.

It can definitely be done, but I'd agree that if there are children involved have things reviewed by an attorney if possible.
