I just recently asked my husband for a divorce, within the past week.

Be strong and stick to your guns....

I saw a lawyer 7 years ago and got guilted into marraige counceling for 2 years...thought I would make an effort at saving the marraige although in my heart I knew it was wrong.

Tress,

Love is a choice. We choose to love someone. We choose to stop loving someone. At some point in your marriage, you made a decision to stop loving your husband. Hence, the "water under the bridge" you speak of in your post.

I suspect your husband is not shocked by the idea of divorce;

My soon-to-be-ex did the same thing! He was in denial for months. He constantly told me he'd change, he'd be a better husband, he still loved me more than anything, he didn't want to lose me, etc, etc.

It made me feel like crap because I knew no matter what he said, or did, I wasn't going to change my mind. I hated feeling like the bad guy, but I had to stand my ground. I knew I was making the best decision for all of us.

Stay strong!
