STBX came over today, and he helped me install 2 new lighting fixtures at the house (actually, he did MOST of the work-- wiring scares me). Afterwards, STBX, 18 y/o DS and I were in the dining room. I told STBX, "Thanks for helping with the lights. I appreciate it." STBX was sitting down, and he motioned to me to sit on his lap as thanks. I was shocked, and said, "Thank you, but no thanks." He then took his cell phone, and clipped it to the front of his pants, by his crotch. I just looked at him. THEN, he stuffed down the front of his pants and said, "Is that a cell phone in your pocket, or are you happy to see me?" He giggled and thought it was hilarious. DS was still standing there, and I said, "Bob, do you really think that is appropriate to do in front of your son?" He said, "He's an adult."

So I guess I have progressed. My counselor said that whenever STBX makes suggestive comments to me in front of the kids, to ask him what he was intending, and ask him if he thinks it is appropriate-- in front of the kids, of course, so that they know it's not appropriate behavior. It feels good to throw it back at him and watch him squirm, for a change. :-D

STBX is really out of it. Absolutely, utterly clueless. He thinks it's funny to attempt to humiliate me in front of our kids by making sexually suggestive remarks. I'm just doing what my counselor said to do: when he says these rude remarks, just say, "I'm sorry, Bob, what did you say?" Or, "Do you think that is appropriate to say", and let him look like the rude buffoon that he is. It's taking some time to recognize just how OFTEN he does this stuff, but it feels good to watch him humiliate HIMSELF. :-D
