Mediation yesterday...ggrrrr

The jerk finally did a bit of his own legal research and all of a sudden wants 50/50 custody. Of course, the only real reason for wanting to split physical custody 50/50 is to lower his child support...great guy, huh? The thing is, there's no way with his work schedule that it could be done. He either works from 6am-5pm or 12pm-11pm with two days off a week. I will be working/going to school from 8-5, monday-friday. Is there really anyway a judge would allow a 50/50 time split if the kids would be with a baby sitter the majority of the time they are with him? I hope not. Of course, he said he was going to move to the same town his parents live in so that they could help out during the days that he works. Well, I spoke to his mother last night. I mentioned his plans and apparently she had heard nothing of this. In fact, when I mentioned that he was planning on using them to help with the kids on a regular basis, she lauged out loud!!!! For a good minute she laughed and laughed and said he was nuts if he thought they'd be okay with that!!! They are not parents of our children, they are GRANDparents!! Their primary purpose is to spoil the kids and have fun with them, not raise them!!! He is sooo delusional!!! I'd love to call and tell him what her reaction was, just to see what he says, but it's not worth the long-distance minutes it would take!

The bad news is I didn't get the spousal support I really need. I just won't agree to it, although he has NO living expenses right now. He pays rent by buying the guy he lives with a bottle of liquor every couple of weeks. Nice, huh? That environment should be GREAT for three kids! But, I do know that my kids will never go hungry or without a home, so that's what's important.

As if nothing else could go wrong right now, yesterday morning I had to go to the hospital for contractions, 4 minutes apart, again. Again, it was false labor..ggrrrr. So, they sent me home, still having contractions, I got to my car and it wouldn't start, again. I can't wait to get my half of the 401k and stock so I can get a reliable car!!!!

Hugs to you. I'm so sorry things didn't go well. Maybe he'll change his tune on the 50-50 when he talks to his parents.

Ugh! My fingers are crossed that he sees the foolishness of trying to split the kids time and using his parents as babysitters every nite!

Tried to post this morning & lost the post. I'm not sure how your state is, but here I was told if the mom/primary caretaker requests sole physical custody, it's almost always granted. Keep working on it. Don't give up.
