Asking a question for my friend and need to know where to find the answer. His wife 3 weeks ago pulled their 3 children from school and left for oregon. We live in Wisconsin. He will be filing for a divorce but is there anything he can do about the kids being out there???

If he files and has her served, there are laws in Wisconsin that prevent either partner to take the kids more than some number of miles away (I think it's 150) for a certain length of time. I suspect that the sooner he does this, the better to be sure that she doesn't take up "residency" in Oregon so that filing can happen there. He (or you) could probably look up the laws in Oregon as well. Everything is online!

Oh really!!??!!. Do you happen to know how long you have to live in Wis. to be a resident?

Residency Limits. The next thing that needs to be looked at is the residency issue. A Wisconsin court can only grant a divorce to parties when one of the parties has been a resident of Wisconsin for six months. A case cannot be started in a given county until one of the parties has resided in such county for at least 30 days.
