A newbie here w/ my story

Hi there!

About a month ago my Husband of 4 1/2 years met me at the door w/ his bags packed and divorce papers on the table. I was shocked and heartbroken, but I saw it coming. He had had all the symptoms on cheating on me at LEAST emotionally for months and we'd been growing distant because of it, despite my efforts to keep us together. The intimacy was gone and he didn't want to rebuild it. So - game over.

Yes, I was sad, for about a week, and I still have my boughts of it, but mostly I'm RELIEVED that the nightmare our last couple months had been is OVER! Yeah! Since I got married young (21) this is my first time being single as an adult (I'm 26 now). So it's a whole new world filled with TONS of oppurtunities which I'm grabbing up by the fistful, hungry for the life he kept making excuses for me not to live.

More about me, I have 2 "men" in my life - My dog Clydas (a 1 year old boxer) and my cat Vance. I live in Southern California and I'm an actress/singer/songwriter w/ a day job that keeps me from being a starving artist (tired, but not starving). I'm currently in 2 shows, "American Standard" and "Guys and Dolls" (if you're in the San Diego area and are interested in seeing either, let me know! American Standard is currently running and Guys and Dolls starts in late August). I'm looking to go back to college part time in the August as well, and I'm looking for an instructor for violin lessons. Of course, the divorce didn't spur all this. I had these plans before.

I'll post more in other areas of the board where they may be more appropriate.

Oh yeah! And no kids. :) Whew!

Hello, and welcome to the board! It sounds like you have goals, dreams, and are optimistic about the future. That's SO important - remaining optimistic even when life throws you a curveball. Now, if I only took my own advice.... ;)

And it's cool about your acting career! I auditioned for my first play in 10 years this spring and even got cast. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to accept the part - I have an 11 year old son, and I would have had to miss 90% of his baseball games. Oh well! Next time around. Break a leg in your shows.....they sound great.
