I have yet to join the iPod/MP3 generation, but it was next on my list after getting my laptop, which I got in May... I'm trying to figure out if I want to get the Nano or the 30GB one...

My kids both have one- but I don't. DD #1 (18) has a Nano and she loves it. The only 'downfall' that I know of is that it's not upgradable to hold more than the like 500 songs it's designed for. Seems to be plenty to me. My other DD (9) has a cheapie one from the clearance isle at Target that I got for like $20.00. It only holds about 15 sonds, but has a slot and I bought a card and now it holds about 1,000 songs. Pretty insane. They both love their players. They have saved the day on long card rides many o' time.

:-)

Good Luck!

My 12 yo DD wants a Nano very badly, but they are very expensive for a kid IMO. She also tends to lose things and I don't think that she'll get that much use out of it yet. Maybe in another year or two. I don't have one yet either. I'm not sure I'd use it enough to justify the cost, you know? When I go walking, I always have someone with me, and when I'm at the computer at home, I play the songs stored on the puter.

I love my Nano-, my DS 12 & DS 8 both have Mp3's, which they have lost and found many times. I take my nano everywhere- I have an adapter for the car, and speakers for the house, then take it with me to walk, I listen at work sometimes- if boss isnt around. I take it to the pool, to all the kids activities- umm...okay ..it can be addicting, kinda like I could be lost without it. I like the Ipod and chose that for myself because it has the most accessories and very user friendly-(personally I love the Nano-it is perfect in size)

good luck!

I have a shuffle, which is tiny, but fits, believe it or not, in my bra, where I also keep my RAZR phone!!! I have no clue how many songs it holds (i'd say about 200), but it's enough to get me through several weeks before I "shuffle" stuff around on it.

Rosie has an inexpensive MP3 player. I couldn't FATHOM getting her anything expensive because we'd all feel bad if she lost it, or it was stolen at school. The MP3 she has holds less than my shuffle, but it's sufficient for her guitar songs and other favorites.

On the other hand, sweetie has the 30GB ipod and he's got every single CD he owns on that thing, with room to spare. And trust me, there are many! I'm stunned at how much music he's got on that and I joke with him that if he loses it, he'll lose his entire collection! But he uses it in the car alot which saves his CDs from being in the heat.

I think the reason people choose the nano over the iPod proper is size! The nano is slim. I guess the technology for 8GB in a tiny place is more than 30GB in a big place!

I haven't purchased anything extra for mine yet because my birthday is coming up in a couple of weeks and I figured some of those things would be easy presents for yours truly, who is apparently difficult to buy for... who knew?
